Regarding "Supreme Court: California tobacco ban won't be blocked" (Nation & World, Dec 13): I was elated to see our California Supreme Court take a firm "line in the sand" stance by refusing a request from tobacco companies to stop California from enforcing a ban on flavored tobacco products that California voters overwhelmingly approved in November.
Not only does this outcome protect our youth for generations to come, but it also sends a clear message to these companies that you're officially on notice for your unsavory practices of marketing harmful products to kids.
Now we need to take Big Tobacco head-on in the fight against cigarette butt litter that currently overwhelms our city streets, local waterways and ocean.
